If you just want to hibernate and not venture too far, all the essentials are on your doorstep; two pubs, a post office, traditional bakery, small deli and a mini-convenience store.
And with beautiful country walks starting as soon as you step out from your door, you don't even need your car. But if you do want to venture further afield, there's plenty to explore nearby.

Meet your host; Becky
Hi, I'm Becky, let me tell you a bit about The Garret:
The Garret sits above the carriageway of our Grade II listed townhouse and occupies the first floor and the loft space.
Recently renovated and updated, you'll find The Garret spacious, warm and comfortable, with a dual-aspect living area that is flooded with light when the sun shines. Plus there's a wood-burning stove and underfloor heating for those chillier days.
The light and spacious attic bedroom has a standard double bed and a pair of arm chairs if you just want to relax with a good book.
The Garret is perfect for retreating away from the hustle and bustle of city life.
Set in a location where you share the hedge-lined lanes with horses and sheep, and the loudest noise you'll hear is the church bells on Sunday. It's the ideal place to enjoy some rest and relaxation.
You'll be welcomed on arrival with a loaf of fresh bread from our fabulous local bakery, a jar of home made marmalade, milk and butter. as well as a small supply of coffee pods and tea bags.
There is secure covered space in the carriageway for storage of bikes.
Please note there are two flights of stairs in The Garret and the ground floor has a cobbled entrance, so the space may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties. Also the bathroom is on the first floor - down stairs from the bedroom.
Although we are animal lovers ourselves, I'm afraid we do not allow pets in The Garret.

Situated within the North Devon UNESCO Biosphere, designated for its unique and rich cultural and natural heritage, and surrounded by the breathtaking National Parks of Dartmoor and Exmoor, Chulmleigh is a small Saxon hilltop market town, 20 miles north west of Exeter.
The Garret offers easy access to explore the natural wonders of North Devon's coast and countryside.

Located just an hour from some of the best surfing beaches in the UK like Woolacombe and Croyde, The Garret provides a perfect base for seaside adventures and coastal exploration.
